BMW Goes Bigger than Electric

With the launch of their new Active E hybrid electric vehicle, BMW is hoping to create something bigger than electric. Hence, the Bavarian automaker is seeking 700 drivers to become "electronauts". In the words of BMW, an electronaut, is a "surveyor of the present, and a proponent of the future - the future of mobility."1 They will be expected to help BMW investigate how their distinctive Active E electric vehicle and EV technology can connect drivers to the future of urban mobility.
BMW electronauts will be expected to provide regular feedback on the car to BMW staff and share details on their driving and charging habits. Spots will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you're interested, all you have to do is complete three simple steps:
- Complete the BMW ActiveE reservation form on www.bmwusa.com/activee.
- Cooperate in a charging station consultation with BMW partner, AeroVironment.
- Enter a closed-end, two-year lease agreement at a participating BMW dealership and finalize your ActiveE charging station installation.
How much will all of this cost? Well, the reservation is, of course, free. The consultation comes with a $100 visitation fee. That, however, can, and will be, credited toward the cost of installing the charging station. The lease agreement necessitates a $2,250 down payment and monthly payment of $499. And, there will be zero charges for maintenance. The benefits of course, are that you'll be part of an elite group of BMW drivers, working collectively toward a better future.
